[Now published J Am Coll Cardiol 2011;57:173–80] A New Simple Novel Risk Score for Predicting Bleeding Risk [HAS-BLED] in an Anticoagulated Atrial Fibrillation Cohort: Validation Against Contemporary Bleeding Risk Schemas Gregory Y. H. Lip, MD, Lars Frison, PHD, Jonathan L. Halperin, MD, Deirdre A. Lane, PHD Birmingham, England; Mölndal, Sweden; and New York, New York Presentation at ESC 2010 Stockholm [Now published J Am Coll Cardiol 2011;57:173–80]

Baseline characteristics of patients with & without major bleed

Risk factors for major bleeding by univariate & multivariate analyses

Comparison of published bleeding risk schemas in patients taking warfarin, the whole cohort & warfarin-naïve patients

Conclusion Diabetes mellitus & LV dysfunction were identified as additional potential risk factors for bleeding in AF Of the 5 bleeding risk schema evaluated, the simple HAS-BLED schema offers an improvement in predictive ability for bleeding over previously published schema Also see http://www.theheart.org/article/1168847.do
