Scramble for Africa Late 1800s, early 1900s saw the race for natural resources in Africa European Countries started to take over land Great Britain controlled South Africa

Scientific Racialism The idea that race is a genetic trait that is inherited. Each race is significantly different from each other This idea dominated European thought, although the theory of ‘Scientific Racialism’ would be disproven by 1948.

Apartheid Direct translation of ‘Apartheid’ = APARTNESS Apartheid was a policy developed in South Africa. Meant to protect the white European from the native population. Very similar to the ‘Jim Crow Laws’ of the South in the USA. But, White Afrikaners only made up about 15-20% of SA’s population.
