Good Friday Word This week we break up on Thursday because Friday is a ‘Holy Day’. This Friday is known as ‘Good Friday’. It is a day when Christians remember Jesus’ sacrifice. But where is the ‘good’ in this Friday story?

Good Friday Word "When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping’. To this day, especially in times of disaster, I remember my mother’s words, and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers — so many caring people in this world." (Fred Rodgers - American television personality, musician, puppeteer, writer, producer and Church leader)

Good Friday Word On Friday Lieutenant-Colonel Arnaud Beltrame volunteered to take the place of a hostage during the attack. Just before police entered the supermarket he was shot and died the following day in hospital. Arnaud Beltrame gave his life so that someone could live.

Good Friday Arnaud Beltrame was committed Christian. Word Arnaud Beltrame was committed Christian. Fr Dom ArZ, national Chaplin of the gendarmerie said that “His act of self-offering was consistent with what he believed.”

Good Friday Word When asked by a reporter ‘Was he right to take such a risk?’ Fr Jean-Baptiste, the leader of the Church that Arnaud attended responded, “He knew that ‘there is no greater love than to lay down your life for your friends” (John 15:13)

Good Friday Respond/Dismiss This Friday Christians will remember the day Jesus gave his life so that others could live. Thought or Prayer: This Friday may those people who have paid the ultimate sacrifice inspire us to make daily sacrifices for the benefit of others.
