Scientific Enquiry

Ice Experiment What happens when a cube of ice is put in cold water and warm water. Plan the practical Write a prediction Record the results Write a conclusion

Plan the experiment Write a method Pour 100ml of water into each beaker. Take the temperature of the water. Get the stop watch ready. Put in the ice cubes. Record how long it takes for the ice to melt.

Record the results Hot water Cold water Temperature of water (°C) Time taken for cube to melt (sec)

Write a conclusion What happened? Be specific. Think about what you have measured and make sure these appear in your conclusion.

My Conclusion The green ice cube took longer to melt in the cold water (** sec) and melted quicker in the fast water (** sec). An increase in the temperature of the water increases the speed that ice melts in water.

Key words Schlußfolgerung Daten Beweis Experiment Untersuchung Beobachtung Vorhersage Ergebnis Theorie Hypothese Conclusion Data Evidence Experiment Investigation Observation Prediction Results Theory Hypothesis

Writing Methods Write a method to describe how you would cook pasta. Try not to use the word „I“ Try to think about safety issues.

Knowing your tools What equipment would you use to measure the following; The length of the classroom The temperature of a cup of tea The mass of an object The amount of water in a cup

Homework Complete the worksheet about melting freezing and evaporating.
