PSP INNOVATION PROGRAM

Overview of Presentation What is innovation PSP Innovation System Innovation Award Steps and Calendar Criteria to Assess Innovation Application Form PSP Innovation Committee and Performance measurement metrics

What is Innovation? An innovation is a new idea, approach or intervention, a new service, a new product or a new policy which responds more adequately and in a more sustainable way than existing solutions to a well defined need. It is a solution that has found takers within an organisation, a community or a group and has produced a measurable benefit for the collective organization and not only for certain individuals. The scope of an innovation is transformational and systemic. It constitutes, in its inherent creativity, a departure from the status quo. (Inspired from http://www.rqis.org/innovation-sociale/)

PSP Innovation System SPIN Database PSP Employees PSP Sr. Managers Assure circulation of ideas PSP Culture of Innovation Foster Enable Enhance Promote PSP Employees Communicate needs and ideas that could lead to innovation PSP Sr. Managers Support the innovation culture and bring people together PSP Innovation Award and Committee Ignite and reward innovation within the organization Measure innovation with metrics Overview of how we got to where we are today 1. Last PM meeting, the innovation committee developed a raw concept of a framework that we subsequently presented to you all last year. 2. Pat, Anne, the committee and myself further refined the framework after the PM meeting 3. During our CHAMPIONS meetings organized by our PM Manager, we presented the refined Innovation to the PM Manager and Champions 4. After the presentation, the PM Manager suggested that the outcome of last years Innovation effort should be continued and to do a trial of the concept here at Cornwall for this year 5. In October, we asked that Sr PSP Manager send their innovative ideas to the SPIN Committee. 6. All ideas were reviewed by the Spin committee and we reached out to those selected Managers to prepare a presentation that would explain their innovative idea and why theirs is the best idea. Click What Is the framework and how does it work? 1. We established a Committee that would review all submissions of innovative ideas. The committee would be composed of Sr Managers according to elements as well as Sr Managers from HQ along with a military personnel. 2. The Sr Manager PSP would be the first screen of innovative ideas submitted from their base. All employees would be encouraged to submit their ideas to the Sr Manager PSP. 3. Innovative ideas would be submitted within the category identified from the application form. All ideas that are screened by the committee would be stored within a database that would be accessible by all for future use should Sr Managers wish to browse through the innovative ideas.
