Welcome to Our Annual Title I Meeting

Why are we here? Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires that each Title I school hold an Annual Meeting of Title I parents for the purpose of… Informing you of your school’s participation in Title I Explaining the requirements of Title I

What does it mean to be a Title I School? Receiving Title I Federal Funds to supplement the school’s existing programs. The funds are used for… Providing timely assistance to help students experiencing academic difficulties to meet the State’s challenging content standards. Purchasing supplemental staff, curriculum programs, materials and supplies Conducting Family Engagement meetings, trainings and activities Professional Development Discuss: How being in a Title I school means more money to help students who are struggling in school - Give examples of how Title I monies will be used to assist students at the school. Give examples of how Title I monies will be used to assist parents. Important: Parents should leave the meeting being able to answer the following question: What does it mean to be a Title I school? (They should be able to answer the question and give a couple of examples of how Title I funds are being used at their school.)

Family Engagement Our school district has a Title I Allocation exceeding $500,000. We are required by law to set aside 1% of it’s Title I allocation for Family Engagement. You, as Title I parents, have the right to be involved in how this money is spent. To be part of the parent committee please see Melissa Hassell or Shannon Gauntt

Family Policy & Compact Our school is required to have a Family Engagement Policy stating our plan for the year to provide Family Engagement activities to help increase student achievement. We are also required to have a Compact. A Compact is a commitment from the school, the parent, and the student to share in the responsibility for improved student academic achievement. Our Family Policy & Compact are reviewed annually with parents, teachers and staff. These documents are on the school website and will also be passed out at parent conference day.

Assessments & Curriculum Students in K-2 take the Reading 3D test and other assessments to monitor their progress. Students in 3-6 take the STAAR test and benchmarks along the way. The district follows a curriculum that is in alignment with the TEKS. Each grade level has a specific set of TEKS that help them move forward to be proficient for the next grade level.

Schoolwide Goals Our school developed a Campus Improvement Plan (CIP), which serves our entire school. Our important Goals this year are: Reading Comprehension (K-6) Math fact fluency and comprehension of word problems Writing editing and revising Science retaining and recalling information learned in other grade levels and extended by 5th grade.
