What Should I Expect??? Course Description: The purpose of Freshman Literature/Composition is for students to explore the cultures and literatures found across the world. Students will be able to comprehend different types of literature and  will be able to think cross-culturally to examine the question what drives humanity. Course Objectives: Students will be able to think critically using their knowledge and experiences. Students will be able to read critically and analyze for information. Students will be able to improve reading comprehension. Students will be able to compose well-developed, cohesive essays varying in sentence-structure, vocabulary, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and usage. Students will be able to write effectively and critically for multiple audiences. Students will be able to gain confidence in public speaking during formal and informal settings. Students will be able to exercise effective study skills and note-taking strategies. Students will be able to conduct academic research.

What Will I Need to Succeed in This Class??? Pen & Pencil EVERYDAY!!! Highlighters English Binder/Notebook with 5 section dividers EVERYDAY!!! College Bound Loose Leaf Paper EVERDAY!!! Index Cards Markers, Colored Pencils, & Crayons Gmail Account

What Will I Have to Do in This Class??? Be respectful of yourself, your peers, and your instructors at all times. Be responsible for your actions. Own up to your achievements, as well as your mistakes. Be punctual and prepared for class every day. Be an active participant in class with the content and with your peers. Be willing to explore new ideas without hostility. Be willing to keep our classroom clean and neat. This is your space as well.

How Will I Be Graded in This Class??? Numerical Percent A 90-100 B 80-89 C 74-79 D 70-73 F Below 70 80% of Your Grade = Your Cumulative Grade + 20% of Your Grade = Your EOC Grade 100% of Your Course Final Grade in This Class
