Room 113 News Friday October 7, 2016 Important dates: Next week’s Shine Student is Michael  Week of 10/17: Hail Mary Prayer test Friday 10/21: SCAAP Friday 10/21: Trunk-or-Treat Friday 10/28: Halloween Parade and Parties Important Information: There will NOT be a spelling test next week! You will find the List 1 test in the packet today. Please note that there are two grades, one for the words and one on the back for the sentences. The sentences must be spelled correctly, begin with a capital letter and end with a punctuation mark. The words in the sentences must also be spaced correctly. Example: Pin it on. NOT p i n i t o n. If your child has an N on the back please have them practice writing the sentences when you get the next list. Thank you so much to all the chaperones who helped out on our field trip yesterday. The weather was perfect and the kids had an awesome time. We couldn’t do it without you!!!  We had the greatest time learning all about apples this week! Students learned about Johnny Appleseed, did an apple taste test, wrote sentences to tell about their favorite apples, learned about the seasons of the apple tree and visited Lynd’s Fruit Farm! Today we even tried homemade applesauce made from apples we picked at Lynd’s—yummy! Our school morning prayer this month is the Hail Mary. Many students already know this prayer but we will work on it next week. There will be an oral prayer test the week of October 17th. The students did a nice job on the Sign of the Cross assessment. Please continue to encourage /remind them to use their right hand. SCAAP Day is October 21st. It is for all of the children that earned SCAAP for the month of September. This time certificates will be handed out from our student council representative. They will go out the week of SCAAP. Remember if a child has three missing homework assignments and or behavior issues in the month they will not earn SCAAP. I hope you received the letter this week about Reading A-Z and XtraMath. Please be sure to have your child do the Flight Check activity by Monday! Next week we will begin our unit on Fire Safety and Addition Strategies in Math!
