The UNPREDICTABLE PATH Game!

So why ?

The new federal law that governs our public workforce system, including GVRA. services to STUDENTS and YOUTH with disabilities 15% of funds on pre-employment transition services for students with disabilities Student with a disability = individual in an educational program, age 14 to 22, receives services under IDEA or considered person with a disability under section 504 Youth with a disability = individual with a disability, age 14 to 24. Does NOT need to be in an educational program. Limits SUBMIMIMUM wage, especially for youth

Employment Outcomes Information in chart 1 provided by Kennesaw State University, August 2015. Information in chart 2 from Butterworth, J., Migliore, A., Sulewski, J., S., Zalewska, A. (2014). Trends in employment outcomes of young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities 2004–2012. Boston, MA: University of Massachusetts Boston, Institute for Community Inclusion

How do we partner with Georgia’s IPSE programs? Teaching staff in partnership with Ga DOE

Partnering to support students Getting IPSE students into GVRA transition services – THE EARLIER THE BETTER! Costs of attending a Comprehensive Transition Program can be covered as a service for appropriate GVRA clients who meet financial need criteria All appropriate support services offered by GVRA staff can be accessed by IPSE students
