Attitudes that affect others Proper attitudes (1)

Loving and Caring True love is about caring – every relationship we are in as Christians involves this love More than a feeling, it is an attitude John 15:13, 1 John 3:16, Ephesians 5:2, Jesus cared Paul cared – 2 Cor. 11:28 Can open doors to teach and influence. It can cause you to look for opportunities. It can cause you to sacrifice.

Caring leads to compassion for other’s needs Compassion, mercy Compassion – sympathetic pity and concern for others who are suffering or facing misfortunes Jesus had compassion – Matt. 9:36, 14:14; Luke 7:13, 10:33, 15:20 Why He associated with sinners – Luke 15:1-2, 19:7, Matt. 9:10-11 We need to be compassionate – 1 Peter 3:8, James 1:27, 2:14-17 Jude 22, Romans 12:8 Caring leads to compassion for other’s needs Spiritually – plight of the lost Desiring to help our brethren

It is a universal language! Kindness can open doors A gentle, warm-hearted and considerate disposition, treats other in a respectful and pleasant way God is kind – Titus 3:4 Natives on Malta Acts 28:2 Prov. 19:22, 1 Cor. 13:4, Galatians 5:22-23, Eph. 4:32 It is a universal language! Kindness can open doors It can change someone else for the better It is a desirable attitude!

Such a one is not always complaining. Pleasant to be around Joyful Gladness or happiness. Not always the absence of trouble, but it is a disposition we decide to have The kingdom of heaven – Romans 14:17 After conversions – Acts 8:8, 13:52, 15:3, 16:25, 5:41 Galatians 5:22, Phil. 1:4, 4:4, Romans 12:15 Such a one is not always complaining. Pleasant to be around Good influence as they see how you handle problems

Meekness, humility A mild and gentle nature. Not seeking confrontation. Not easily provoked or irritated Does NOT mean one is cowardly or weak, rather he is under control Moses was meek – Numbers 12:3 Jesus - Matthew 11:29, 2 Cor. 10:1 Titus 3:1-2, Galatians 5:23, 1 Peter 3:15, Matthew 5:5 Galatians 6:1, 2 tim. 2:24-26 This can put others at ease and even cause them to want to be around you. In our aggressive world, meekness is refreshing!

Patience, long-suffering Patience – remaining calm and controlled while waiting Longsuffering – patience even in troubling times An attribute of God – 2 Peter 3:9, 15 Paul - 2 Cor. 11:23-30, 2 Tim. 3:10 Galatians 5:22-23, 2 Pet. 1:5-7 1 Cor. 13:4, Col. 1:11, 3:12 2 Timothy 4:2 Affects others as we remain in control in dealing with them and life. Keeps us from reaching rash conclusions. It can keep churches intact

Matthew 5:16, our lights shining may cause others to glorify God! Virtually every attitude affects others in some way! A good indicator of genuine growth is how we develop these attitudes and avoid bad ones!
