Statutory Safeguarding for families hosting exchange students Source document DBS checks for parents hosting exchange students required Alternative possible for very good reasons: Herts County advice Established partners, shared values Partnership established over 18-24 months Pairing form and partner contact Meeting students 24 hours after arrival Students are issued with College ID card From College “Out of College Trips Policy” and part of Hockerill suite of child protection policies Read Policy and contact the College should you wish to discuss any personal or confidential concern you may have regards KCSE

Statutory Safeguarding for families hosting exchange students Supervision at home In loco parentis: Responsibility lies with parent(s)/guardian(s) identified on consent form Visiting students should not be left unsupervised Privacy Grant visiting students privacy in bath and bedrooms by knocking before entering Bedrooms can be shared by a child of the same gender and similar age (max 2 year difference Be mindful of the child’s personal space (cultural, personal, gender & age related differences) Guests Visiting student must not be left alone with guests over the age 18 year
