Ancient Greece Year 5 Spring 1 Physical Education Following P.E scheme of work To play competitive games and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending Science – Light TASC – To create a shadow puppet To recognise that light appears to travel in straight lines To use the idea that light travels in straight lines to explain that objects are seen because they give out or reflect light into the eye To explain that we see things because light travels from light sources to our eyes or from light sources to objects and then to our eyes Additional information Pupils to understand how light is perceived. Focus on illusions. History – Ancient Greece TASC –To create an information booklet about the Ancient Greeks  the legacy of the Greeks ( art, architecture and literature) on later periods in British History, including the present day.  A study of Greek life and achievements and their influence on the western world. Additional Information: Children will learn about the Ancient Greek Olympics. Children learn about what is like to train as hoplite/spartan and how the greeks went into battle. Discussing Greek architecture and creating own temple.
