TIME-OUT: SIGNALS AND PROCEDURES Who Can Request a time-out? A Player on the Floor The Head Coach When Can a time-out be Requested? When there is Player Control When the ball is Dead How is a time-out Requested? Visibly or Orally Requesting a time-out Granting a time-out

TIME-OUT: SIGNALS AND PROCEDURES What Does the Official Do When a Time-Out is Requested? React Immediately and Grant the Time-out Or Assess the situation and determine if when the request was made, the team may be granted a time-out. Reacting immediately without assessing the situation is asking for trouble. Don’t Run Away from the Play! Running away can potentially put you in a position where the players are out of your field of vision and you or your partner(s) may not see the action after the whistle.

TIME-OUT: SIGNALS AND PROCEDURES Reporting Time-Out Move to the Reporting Area Verbally and Visibly Report: Team Color Who Requested the Time-out The Type of Time-out Begin Timing the time-out Move to your Time-out Position - Official with the line of responsibility for throw-in should be at the throw-in spot and the other official straddles the division line REGARDLESS of who rules/reports time-out
