Project Scope Change Summary: New 12V/24V heated breather tube options will be released for multiple configurations, with routing differences from unheated tubes in many cases. Existing 24V heated breather tube options will obsoleted and replaced. The harness power connector for the new heaters will be a 4-pin connector, changed from the existing 2-pin connector, requiring an OEM harness change. Background: In extreme cold temperatures, water may condense inside the breather tube and collect on the rim of the open crankcase breather tube outlet, and freeze and block the tube, possibly leading to engine shutdown or failure due to high crankcase pressure. Adding a heater will prevent ice from forming and blocking the tube Implementation Strategy and Date: From factory, target implementation January 2018

Comments This CEAF is broadcast to users of all BR options of the affected configurations to capture all OEM need for 12V heaters. Existing unheated BR options will not be obsoleted or modified to become heated BR options as a result of this CEAF. If OEM currently has an unheated BR option, has breather tube freezing issues and OEM has interest in a 12V or 24V heated BR option, please review. Heated BR options will not be released for unheated BR options without OEM feedback of need. Routing of new 12V/24V heated BR option may differ from unheated BR option and have interference. If OEM currently has 24V heated BR options, new 12V/24V heated BR options will directly replace existing 24V heated BR options with no routing changes. Do the proposed changes and diameter increase (if applicable) interfere with any OEM equipment? The new heated BR option power connector is a 4-pin connector, changed from the existing 2-pin connector. What lead time is required by the OEM to accommodate this harness change? CAD models are available upon request due to file sizes

Change Summary Two possible changes: 1. Two possible changes: New 12V/24V heated BR option will be released to satisfy need for 12V breather tube heater as a customer-selectable option. Routing may differ from existing unheated BR options in some cases. OEM harness power connection required. Existing 24V heated BR option will be obsoleted and replaced with new 12V/24V heated BR option. Heater will be shortened at outlet end to accommodate breather tube end change. OEM harness power connector change required. See CEAF201705220002 for breather tube end change detail See also: connector change summary on next slide 2. Proposed heated breather tube assembly Current breather tube assemblies (example)

Harness Connector Change Summary The heater power connector will change to a 4-pin male Deutsch DT04-4P, requiring a female Deutsch DT06-4S on the OEM harness. For 12V systems, supply voltage across pins 1 and 2; for 24V systems, supply voltage across pins 1 and 4. Pin 3 will be unused and cavity will be plugged. Circuit should be fused to 5amps.
