The Med-Chi Lectures “Unlocking Patients with Dementia” ABERDEEN MEDICO-CHIRURGICAL SOCIETY Founded 1789 Fellowship │ Education │ Heritage Thursday 15th March 2018 – 7pm The Med-Chi Hall “Unlocking Patients with Dementia” Med-Chi Hall Aberdeen Medico-Chirurgical Society The Med-Chi Hall, Foresterhill at 7pm A growing body of international research provides evidence on the beneficial effects of personally meaningful music in the treatment and care of those living with dementia. Andy Lowndes, a former psychiatric nurse and a recently retired academic from Glasgow Caledonian University, is one of the founders and Deputy Chair of the music and dementia charity, Playlist for Life. Andy will present the work of the charity and provide some case studies demonstrating how the charity helps people living with dementia and their families to track down the music that has formed the soundtrack to their lives.
