About KITEC KITEC (pronounced as Key-Tech), the Indian avatar of VISTA – Volvo’s Global Competition for Aftermarket professionals was launched in March 2008. This is the 5th edition of the biennial event which will be held for all Aftermarket professionals working in Volvo Trucks & Buses in India. India is the only market in the entire Volvo network to successfully conduct such a mega learning event. With more than 90% of Aftermarket workforce participating over the years, KITEC focuses on achieving Teamwork, Competence Development and Recognition which are its core objectives.

KITEC Timelines

Competition Format *Qualifier Round for Top 12 Truck Teams & Top 12 Bus Teams will be held after 3 Rounds. Please refer to Competition Rules & Guidelines section for more information.

Competition Guidelines – Theoretical Round 3 Rounds of theoretical questions will be answered through a web tool (KITEC Portal) Separate Question format for Truck & Bus Teams All Questions of all rounds to be attempted by all teams. 1 Week for Query submission and clarification after each Round. Focus Areas for participants Technical Commercial Processes & systems Gathering and interpreting information

Competition Guidelines – Qualification Round selection Scores of all 3 Rounds will be compiled to identify the Top 12 Truck & Top 12 Bus Teams who will participate in the Qualification Round. In case we do not arrive at the Top 12 clear positions for Truck teams or Bus teams or both, KITEC project team reserves the right to schedule a Theoretical Tie Breaker round for only the tying teams. The top score/s of the Theoretical Tiebreaker round from amongst the tying teams will be considered to fill the available position/s for the Qualification Round. In case of a subsequent tie, the time taken for submission of tie breaker round question will be considered. A sample scenario arriving at the selection of Top 12 Teams for Qualification Round is given for ease of understanding.

Qualification Round – Selection scenario In Scenario 1 - Teams A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L automatically qualify for Qualification Round on merit basis. In Scenario 2 – Teams A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J automatically qualify for Qualification Round on merit basis. Tie Breaker Round will be applicable for Teams K,L,M,N & O. Team L also qualifies for Qualification Round on account of having the highest score in Tie Breaker Round. And, Team N also qualifies for Qualification Round even though they tie their scores with Team K & M, by virtue of lesser answer submission time for Tie Breaker Round.

Competition Guidelines – Qualification Round Qualification Round will be a combination of Theoretical & Practical Rounds, spread over two days, and will be separately held for Trucks & Bus Teams. All 12 Truck Teams will participate in the Truck Qualification Round. All 12 Bus Teams will participate in the Bus Qualification Round. All tasks in the Qualification Round will be time bound and monitored. All competition rules that will be applicable will be common to all teams.

Competition Guidelines – National Finals selection Scores of Qualification Round and the 3 Theoretical Rounds will be compiled to identify Top 8 Truck Teams & Top 8 Bus Teams who will Qualify to compete in the KITEC 2017 National Finals. In case of a tie, then the team with the higher score in the Qualification round will be selected for a place in the National Finals. In case of a further tie, then the Qualification Round task completion time will be considered for National Finals selection wherever applicable. A sample scenario arriving at the selection of Top 8 Teams for National Finals is given for ease of understanding.

National FINALS – Selection scenario In Scenario 1 - Teams A,B,C,D,F,G,H automatically qualify for KITEC FINALS on merit basis. Team J also qualifies for FINALS by virtue of scoring higher than Team E in the Qualification Round. In Scenario 2 – Teams A,B,C,D,G,H automatically qualify for KITEC FINALS on merit basis. Team I also qualifies for FINALS by having a higher Qualification Round score amongst the tying Teams (Team E,F & I) Team F also qualifies for FINALS by virtue of lesser submission time of Qualification Round answer as compared to Team E.

Competition Guidelines – National FINALS Only the Top 8 Truck Teams & Top 8 Bus Teams which have been qualified from the Qualification Round, will compete in the National FINALS which will be conducted on the following day after the Qualification Round. National FINALS will have more focus on Practical competence. Teams will have to compete by performing Vehicle level, Aggregate level, or process related tasks. National FINALS for Truck and Bus Teams will be held on the same day followed by Awards ceremony. All tasks in the National FINALS will be time bound and monitored. All competition rules that will be applicable will be common to all teams. Winners conference and closing ceremony will be held for all the Finalist teams the following day after the National FINALS.

KITEC Winners & Runners Up Announcements 1 Truck Team will be awarded the KITEC 2017 Champions Trophy for Trucks. 1 Bus Team will be awarded the KITEC 2017 Champions Trophy for Buses. 1st and 2nd Runner up Truck Teams will also be recognized and awarded. 1st and 2nd Runner up Bus Teams will also be recognized and awarded. (KITEC Project Committee has the right to use a Tie Breaker Question or the Task completion time in case of tying teams for deciding the Winners & Runners Up).

Team Formation Region to Internally decide & formulate or assist in having at least few winning combination teams. CDC or KITEC Project Committee will not influence in any team formation, but can suggest on the best possible winning combination team if required. KITEC open to all roles in VSPC Own & VSPC Private workshops, except Dealer Management teams, RSMs, RTs, Finance, Sales, Parts/Service Helpers, CDC, & Bangalore Support functions. Open only for retail employees supporting Volvo Truck & Volvo Bus products. (Dedicated competition will be rolled out for Value Truck Technicians in VTI Division) Min of 3 to Max 4 members in the team
