The Civil Rights Movement After-School Review #10 The Civil Rights Movement

Who is pictured at left? What event is taking place? What do we remember about this event?

“We conclude that in the field of public education the doctrine of ‘separate but equal’ has no place. Separate educational facilities are inherently unequal.”

It led to governmental intervention to protect consumers. In order to protect the rights of mostly immigrant workers, César Chavez organized the United Farm Workers union. When the large companies that employed the minority workers refused to sign contracts with the organized workers, the workers went on strike. The workers then organized a boycott of the products produced by the companies. Who is/was César Chavez? What group of people did he organize and represent? Which statement correctly evaluates the effectiveness of this strategy? It led to governmental intervention to protect consumers. It resulted in legislation regulating the use of the strike.
