DoD Skillbridge An initiative for transfer service members to complete civilian job and employment training Allows Sailors to earn training toward apprenticeship/internships Designed to provide training that provides a “high probability of employment”
Who is eligible On active for more than 180 days and expected to get a honorable discharge Will be discharge within 180 days from the commencement of the program Complete the course prior to separation from service * DODI 1322.29 and NAVADMIN 222/15
So how much does this cost Most programs are free to the Sailor Cost out of pocket minimal for other programs Some programs are eligible for GI-Bill The member will not be payed for the work they do during the program
FRAME WORK The military will allow the service member to attend industry training instead of military job The participating party has to provide training at little to no cost to the service member
AF Skillbridge Same program as the DOD Skillbridge AF instruction 36-2649
