Reimagining Arnolds Creek – Key Design Features (July 2018) Cambrian Way Grassy open space for recreation with connection to Homestead Place Planted channel and benches varying in width across the waterway Narrow width of open space limits opportunities Mixture of trees and shrubs on western side of waterway Existing concrete path to remain Water retention point Gravel path connecting Piccolotto Dr with gathering area Concrete culvert crossing and path connecting Piccolotto Drive with path network Bulmans Road Grassy open space for recreation with connection to Barleycorn Place Urban forest comprising mix of native local provenance trees Planted channel and benches varying in width across the waterway and planted with ephemeral and terrestrial natives for habitat, bank stabilisation and to extend the ‘Cool Zone’ down to the channel New 2.5m wide bridge crossing connecting either side of Bulmans Road Gathering area with structure, large seats and tables, located at a higher vantage point to provide views in all directions of the waterway. Large terrace seating area to allow gathering of students for instruction. Connects to rock habitat zone extending into the waterway for citizen science and nature-play activities. Concrete path connecting Bulmans Road, Cambrian Way and High Street Circular loop around the central reflective area, allowing guardians to observe kids/students from the gathering are. Flora & Fauna education opportunities to be included along loop Water retention point, tree plantings to extend into waterway to provide westerly wind break Quiet reflective area Grassy open space for recreation Concrete culvert crossing over waterway Gravel path along southern side to encourage pedestrian movement from Bulmans Road to High Street including connection to Ernest Close and Gregory Place. Grassy open space for recreation Waterway crossing and opportunity to interact with water. Large seating with views. Waterway crossing and opportunity to interact with water with tree plantings to extend into waterway to provide another westerly wind break.
