Why you might want to specify corridor length Duplicate design between two or more pair of glasses, i.e. clear general purpose and sunwear. Converting a bifocal wearer to a progressive Power imbalance between right and left eyes where slab-off may be indicated (anisometropia)

The Difference Between ARRAY and Integrated Double Surface Front Vertical Component Back Horizontal Component Aspheric Atoric Rx All progressive lenses, except HOYALUX iD series, place magnification on one side of the lens. Having magnification on only one side causes the primary issues patients have with progressive lenses: • Limited fields of vision, especially in the mid and near ranges • Uncomfortable transition between far and near vision • Swimming and swaying sensation, especially while moving While backside free-form processing provides substantially improved performance over conventional lenses, these issues are not entirely eliminated. Integrated Double Surface Technology Front surface, vertical component Shorter eye rotation Greater surface quality control Back surface, horizontal component Wider perceived zones Reduced peripheral distortion Greater surface quality control What are the benefits of the double surface design? The front surface contains only vertical components and the benefit is to shorten the rotation of the eyeball to go from the upper portion of the lens to the bottom – distance to near powers. Here is what that means; hold your finger up close to your nose and look from the top of your finger to the bottom near the knuckle. Kind of a long way for your eyes to travel, isn’t it? Now, put your finger about 6 inches away further from your face and do the same thing……….a lot easier, right? That’s the advantage of puuting the vertical component of the front surface….it is easier for the eye to travel from top to bottom. Now the back side is the horizontal component which is the “channel” and contains the peripheral distortion, you know, the blurry areas that show up on either side of the lenses. By putting this part on the back side it is sort of like looking through a keyhole. The closer you get to the keyhole the more you see on the other side. That is the advantage of putting just that part on the back side. So, integrated double surface provides the benefit of shorter eye rotation from top to bottom because only that part of the design is further way from the eye and the “keyhole” is closer to the eye and has a wider field of view. Array design markings 4 mm drop; from Eye Point to Prism Reference Point There are 3 types of addition powers built into the Hoya Free-Form prescription engine. As Worn, Front and Back. The addition power can be ground to read in a lensometer from the front side and the engraving will be the letter “F” (which is the default). Conversely, the addition power can be ground to read in a lensometer from the back side and the engraving would be the letter “B”. If the option for AS Worn is utilized, the addition power will not read as ordered but slightly different depending upon the position of wear measures that were given and the “W” will appear in the temporal area where the 2 digit add power is engraved.
