Alabama Marine Resources Division Aquaculture Siting Tool Brief Tutorial on how to use the application and what function each icon performs. This application is not intended for navigation purposes and is intended to aid people interested in Oyster Aquaculture find a suitable location. For this purpose, many different layers have been made available to aid in the placement of potential aquaculture sites.

Layer List: List of all layers Map Legend: Displays only the layers visible at the current scale of the map. Zoom Buttons Returns to Default View Extent Find My Location Layer List: List of all layers Used in the Application, Visible layers appear dark while not visible layers are light grey Geographic Coordinates Of your Cursor Scale Bar

Filter Tool: Allows the user Draw: Allows the user the ability to draw lines, polygons points, text to the map. The user can change the color, transparency level, line width, units of measure. Measure Tool Filter Tool: Allows the user The ability to sort information within a variety of layers to display information that may be important to their project or further assist in the placement of the aquaculture project. Click on the sprocket to expand the filter for use. Click beside the sprocket to Make the filter active. Filters remain Active until it is unselected and only that Information will be displayed. Print Tool: Allows you to choose a format (PDF, JPEG, TIFF) and change the layout of the images printed (portrait/Landscape), you change title, add an author, change the map scale, etc… Attribute Table: Click on the Icon To open the attribute tables. Click On the Icon again to close the Table Base Maps: Allows you to choose from One of four base maps

The default for the attribute table is to only display the features/layers in the current view of the map, users can deselect this by clicking on The “Filter by Map Extent” tab. The “Options” tab allows users the ability to create a custom filter based upon the information present in the table to allow the user the ability to Only display the information they have interest that is present within the table layer. The columns can be sorted in ascending or descending order by clicking on the column header in the table.

Home View/Default View of the Application As the user zooms in on a particular area or reef, more information is revealed.

If the user clicks with a the mouse on a layer, information about this layer will appear: Here you can see that the SAV layer has been selected and the information regarding species, habit, and area are displayed. If you were To click on a parcel, the Owners name and address would appear in the pop-up dialogue box.
