Element PowerPoint Presentation Information

Title Slide The title slide must include: 1. the element’s name (Main Topic / Title) Subtitled: 2. your name 3. class period 4. date The title slide must be eye-catching and creative.

Element Square This is where you will create and label an element square like the squares from the periodic table. It must include the element’s: refer to page 115 1. Atomic Number 2. Element Symbol 3. Element Name 4. Mass Number (rounded to the tenth) 5. Colored Square (blue-metals, green-nonmetals, yellow-metalloids)

Element Information 1. Classification (metal, nonmetal, or metalloid) 2. Phase at room temperature 3. Period Number 4. Group Number (if it is available*) *If it does not have a group number, write if it is a lanthanide or actinide. 5. State if the element is or is not radioactive. 6. Is the element synthetic or found in nature?

Element History 1. Element’s name origins and meaning 2. Symbol origins (If no origin information is available, write (example) “B” is an abbreviation for Boron.) 3. Person or team that discovered the element. 4. Date of Discovery (Give the approximate date or state that it is an ancient element of an unknown time period. Research it’s earliest uses in history for clues to its age.) 5. The location of its discovery. 6. Any other relevant historical information.

Common Compounds and Uses Make a list of at least three different items or compounds in which your element can be found. Include a picture of your element or something it is commonly used in. If your element is not commonly used, a picture of its namesake, scientist that discovered it, location of its discovery, historical information, etc. will be sufficient.

Atomic Representations Bohr Model Electron Shell Configuration Draw or insert a Bohr model representation of the element’s atom. Draw or insert a representation of the element’s electron shell configuration.

Requirements You must write in complete sentences. Each slide should have a transition effect or animation. Slides must have background images or colors. The text must be easy to read. You must be able to read / present your information to the class with little help. (If you are asked a question, you need to be able to answer it. Don’t type something that you don’t understand, research your information!)

Citations Make a list of all of the websites or other resources that you used to research your element or create your project. Be sure to cite your images for each slide and image. You may include a reference number at the bottom of each slide or image, then list which website corresponds to that number on the citation slide.
