Recycling Information What do we Recycle? Textiles (gently used household items to include books, clothing, housewares, blankets, toys, etc.) Electronics (working and non-working) Batteries (alkaline only) Recyclables (paper, plastics, glasses, etc.) How Much do we Recycle? Thrift Stores Description Locations The Y Thrift Shops are a great place to shop and donate your gently used clothing, furniture, books, housewares, electronics and more! Our thrift shops accept all household items that are then sold or recycled. All proceeds remain local and support leadership development and community programs within the NRV. We have the largest collection of used books in the region. Gardens
Hale YMCA Community Gardens Features ROPER SOLAR GREENHOUSE Named for its designer L. David Roper, the Roper Solar Greenhouse is used by community members to grow food all winter. Extra produce is taken to the Interfaith Food Pantry. GARDEN SPACE We rent three sizes of garden spots for your organic garden growing. YToss Description Be a part of the Y’s premier student-led sustainability initiative, helping the Virginia Tech community keep gently-used furnishings out of the landfill and affordably into the hands of incoming students who need them.
