Garden Group Project

This IS a contest! There will be 10 groups Arch 2 = group leaders Designs will be judged by school staff

Design Process Discuss the purpose of the garden, location and restrictions. Brainstorm how the space can be used. Agree on the best ideas and write a summary. Sketch where elements will be placed. Research plants and garden elements. Prepare a Revit model. Create a physical model (1”=10’).

Things to Consider Make it practical (no large trees) Safety (don’t make it an obstacle course, skate park) Affordable (no gold and diamonds) Accessibility Make it fit in within current plans of the rest of the school Maintenance

Elements for a Garden Hardscape (anything that doesn’t grow) Seating Table Sidewalks Birdbaths Softscape (things that grow, vegetation) Native plants (variety) Size at mature growth Evergreen and deciduous

Appearance The principles of landscape design include: unity scale balance simplicity variety emphasis sequence as they apply to line, form, texture, and color. These elements are interconnected.
