STATEMENTS TO LIVE BY – Spring 2   Over the next few weeks we will be working together to.... ‘To know that everything has the capacity to reveal God’s presence and in the light of this develop effective and satisfying relationships’ This week we will take the opportunity to discuss and support each other as we learn about this statement: 19. I know that it is OK for me to make mistakes 20. I can learn from my mistakes and failures I try to keep going when things are difficult and not give up hope 22. I know what humility means Can we think of something that we have each found a struggle to do? McEniff 2018

Things to do in Lent…. PRAY MORE DO GOOD DEEDS DO SOME PENANCE find time to talk and listen to God DO GOOD DEEDS Help those in need in any way you can DO SOME PENANCE Show you are sorry for your sins.

We gather together: McEniff 2018

Dear God, As we journey through Lent help us to be truly sorry for the things that we do that are wrong. Please forgive us and help us to make better choices. Help us to forgive those who are unkind to us. Amen. McEniff 2018

“This is my Son, the Beloved. Listen to Him.” Contrasting Transfiguartion by Macha Chmakoff (France) McEniff 2018

We listen: The Gospel of the Lord Praise to you Lord, Jesus Christ Listen carefully to the Gospel of the Lord. 2 Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain apart, by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, 3 and his clothes became dazzling white, such as no one on earth could bleach them. 4 And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, who were talking with Jesus. 5 Then Peter said to Jesus, ‘Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; let us make three dwellings, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.’ 6 He did not know what to say, for they were terrified. 7 Then a cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud there came a voice, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him!’ 8 Suddenly when they looked around, they saw no one with them any more, but only Jesus. 9 As they were coming down the mountain, he ordered them to tell no one about what they had seen, until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead. 10 So they kept the matter to themselves, questioning what this rising from the dead could mean. Mark 9:2-10 The Gospel of the Lord Praise to you Lord, Jesus Christ McEniff 2018

Answers on the next slide! We respond: We are journeying together through Lent to prepare ourselves well to celebrate Easter. Can you remember the three things we try to do more of in Lent? Answers on the next slide! McEniff 2018

We respond: Lent is a time to… PRAY MORE find time to talk and listen to God DO GOOD DEEDS Help those in need in any way you can DO SOME PENANCE Show you are sorry for your sins.

We respond: So how are you going to do those things? PRAY MORE: Quiet prayer in the chapel at morning playtimes. Try to visit the chapel for 5 minutes at a morning playtime. Remember it is a quiet time. Do not take your snack in. Write a short prayer. Hold a pebble in your hand as you pray. Light a tea light candle. Be quiet near the chapel as people are praying. McEniff 2018

We respond: So how are you going to do those things? DO GOOD DEEDS: Have you told your families how we are going to help CAFOD this Lent? Have you brought any coins in yet to fill your bucket KS1? Maybe you could do some extra jobs at home to earn coins Who has had a good idea of how to grow their £1 in KS2? Why is important to do these things? McEniff 2018

We respond: So how are you going to do those things? SHOW YOU ARE SORRY: McEniff 2018

We go forth: God our father, I come to say, Thank you for your love today. Thank you for my family And all the friends you give to me. Guard me in the dark of night And in the morning send your light. St. Wilfrid, Patron of our School, pray for us McEniff 2018
