Smart Board Tips and Tricks

To Access this tutorial Go to:

Did You Know? Full Screen Mode: click the computer Switch where the toolbar goes Switch from side to side

Type something can do interesting Makes it an object that you can clone, clock, or flip if you want to add animation/transition you go to properties by going to object animation, just like you would a powerpoint

Handwriting recognition: write it then right click then change to type Link things by highlighting: can link by the entire phrase or by a button Customize your toolbar: right click on tool bar and go to customize and you can add other tools you like: clone page clear page

Adding Items to Toolbar

Erasing: use the eraser can make a giant circle and punch in the middle Clear page Dual Page view: splits page into two things (computer with white on it) Pin Page: have something important….select pin page, not matter what the one side will be there, ( looks like a push pin)

Pre-existing images: just drag, great for elementary Math x-y grid: plotting graph, the board will move, you need to lock the image in place! locking with a right click Straight line: can click on and extend and can change the ends with arrows

Don’t Do This with Your Smart board! Don’t have your back to the class Be Aware where you shadow falls Don’t leave the kids in the dark, this takes away from interactivity Don’t be the sage on the stage interactive is not for you its for the kids Engage students let them use the board

Don’t let the SMARTBoard be a substitute For Good Instruction!
