1. Dangerous situations Avoid any situations that could put you our your classmates in danger. Such as, dirty work area Cluttered walkway Spills Wandering room

2. Spills If you spill any chemical follow this procedure. 1. Notify teacher 2. Check your hands and clothing 3. Check floor 4. Clean properly as instructed by teacher

3. Accidents Report ANY accident right away. NO MATTER HOW small you think it is.

4. Walkways Must be left clear. Put your materials UNDER your desk-there will be some labs where I ask you to leave everything in your locker except pencil.

5. Hair/Clothing Long hair MUST be pulled back Loose clothing must be pulled back also Avoid sandals when working with chemicals NO COATS Hoodies Loose Jewelry Teachers discretion is final

5. FIRE If something starts on fire, use the fire extinguisher. DO NOT USE water! Located in the front of the room and prep If someone is burning use the fire blanket Located in front of room and prep room

6. Chemical Shower Located directly in side prep room. Stand under shower. Pull handle

7. Wandering room OUT OF SEAT WITH PERMISSION ONLY. This way we don’t have a collision that causes an larger accident

8. Clean-up Before, during and after a lab. YOU are responsible for YOUR work area and the area around you. WHAT I CLEAN UP COSTS THE GROUP 10 POINTS PER ITEM Also the sinks, trash and counters must be left clean.

9. Chemicals, stir rods, food NEVER PUT YOUR HANDS IN YOUR MOUTH DURING A LAB OR YOUR PENCIL OR A STIR ROD OR CHEMICALS NO GUM!!!!!!!

10. ACID SPILLS If you spill an acid, no matter how small of spill it must be reported right away!!! THIS does not include hydroxl acid!!

11. Goggles ON your face, covering your eyes at ALL times. No matter how uncomfortable they are If you need to remove them ask permission to leave the area and then remove them.

12. Horseplay/disturbing others NO GOOFING AROUND!!! DO NOT DISTURB OTHERS, you may cause an accident LEVEL 2 is AUTOMATIC

13. Heating a test tube YES!!! NO !! Heat from base Point top AWAY from you and ANYONE else YES!!! NO !!

14. Using the gas Emergency shut off buttons, located by the door and in the prep room Valve is ON when it is aligned with hose OFF is either way to the side, all the way

15. Smelling chemicals Waft chemicals towards you. DO NOT SMELL THEM DIRECTLY

16. Chemical disposal FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO DISPOSE OF CHEMICALS DO NOT just put down the drain.

Always add ACIDS SLOWLY to water NEVER WATER TO ACID REMEMBER A and W like the root beer, for acid N water

Reagents Always read and double check the label on a reagent bottle before removing anything NEVER NEVER NEVER RETURN USED CHEMICALS TO THE ORIGINAL BOTTLE
