CONTROL OF RENEWABLE ENERGY CENTRIC MICROGRID. Student: Anshuman Vaidya, ECE Department Faculty Advisor: Dr. Badrul Chowdhury, ECE Department OBJECTIVE AND RESEARCH FOCUS RESULTS / DISCUSSION WPP CONTROL SCHEME The simulation results displays the power shared by WPP and synchronous generator when the Microgrid is subjected to the Load Profile. In this simulation the voltage profile at critical buses and the rotor speeds of synchronous generators are also captured and analyzed. This model is to be used to analyze the best configuration of generation mix possible for a particular wind profile where the aim is to maximize the renewable penetration. Development of real time assessment and control methodology of Microgrid with high renewable energy penetration. Develop a scheme for real time assessment of Microgrid with the help of PMCU’s installed at vital locations. Develop and analyze a Microgrid model having voltage and frequency regulation participation from conventional generators and WPP. 1 4 7 PREVIOUS CONTRIBUTIONS MICROGRID MODEL WITH WPP FUTURE WORK Other generation sources like photovoltaic system, battery sources, Car parks and Fuel cells would be added to complete the Microgrid. PMCUs at vital locations would be installed in the Microgrid and a theoretical communication network would be developed between them. PMCU data would be used to analyze and asses the real time state of the Microgrid. Analyzed renewable energy sources capability for supporting the grid by providing voltage and frequency support. Implemented the active and reactive power control schemes for Wind power plant. 2 5 8 LOAD PROFILE AND SIMULATION RESULTS FUTURE WORK PREVIOUS CONTRIBUTIONS Acknowledgements We gratefully acknowledge the support of Intelligent Systems Center . 3 6 9
