Presentation transcript:

My teaching metaphor would be Idle hands are the devils playground. Although I no longer do child care we were always going places and exploring things. Being active outdoors, and indoors!

Fort Robinson State park has wonderful museums! So many wonderful things to do, we would spend hours each summer out at the fort.

Tubing down both the White River and the Niobrara

Scottsbluff Monument and the Riverside Zoo!

Fishing and Sledding!

Chimney Rock a wonderful place to see and learn!

Agate Fossil Beds, City Parks, Ponds to fish and explore, and of course the Rodeo or the county fair.

Teaching happening everywhere, Crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore. What better places to learn about our history.

Bison Beds and Toadstool Park Not only can you hike, climb and Explore at Toadstool Park at the Bison beds if you let them know ahead Of time the let the kids do all kinds Of things like dig for bones.

The world is a Stage, So of course we had to go to: Wind Cave Storybook Island Flintstone Park Reptile Gardens Carhenge Dinosaur Park And many other cool places!

Lego Projects that took weeks at A time to complete!

Sports is a wonderful metaphor for life. So we tried to Play them all.

You have to do crafts and games!

Cooking is a must, they learn to work together, fractions, mixing and they use so many other important skills!

The favorite back yard thing was the big hole in the center of the yard where they could dig, slide, climb and sled in the winter and use their imaginations for so many things!

The world is my oyster. The all time favorite road trip The world is my oyster! The all time favorite road trip. Was the balloon festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I was lucky when I was doing child care the parent’s of the kids I had, loved that I wanted to go places and do things with their kids. Most of them were low income and would never of gotten to do anything. We went to numerous other places but there are too many to put into one power point. We also were hands on at home too cooking, lego projects, a National Parks Monopoly game that lasted all summer. I hope all of you who are going into teaching get to explore the outdoors and other places while you teach. Kids learn so much from where ever you go, even if it just the city park or a pond. Letting them use their imaginations both inside and out!
