Let’s talk Concerns? Ideas?

Money Ball Leadership Lesson The success of small-market Oakland A’s in the early 2000s ties closely Billy Beane’s “system” to build a successful baseball franchise using statistical models to “predict” player performance. “Baseball thinking is midievil.  They are asking all the wrong questions.” –  What questions are you asking in your current department?  Are they bringing a new set of solutions. Great Talent and Solutions Are Often Found In Unusual Places.  Brand studied economics at Yale.

Knowing is half the battle! Bottom of the 9th… Come on Fowler, Throw strikes!

Questions to ask What do I have to do to get my officers involved/active? (Individual level) What will the community think? (Community Level) Do you have the organizational will to do this? Do you have the skills to do it (willing to let in those who do)? (Organizational level) What crime problems do you have? Can you partner with other PDs to contain costs? (Situational level)

Themes Understand this impacts the criminal justice system Communication is critical Internal politics are always important Keep your focus
