Our mission The World Economic Forum – committed to improving the state of the world – is the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation. The Forum is a platform that engages the foremost political, business and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas through systems approaches The Tropical Forest Alliance 2020 is one example. It is hosted at the World Economic Forum

Partnering to produce deforestation free commodities Tropical Forest Alliance 2020 is the global umbrella partnership that brings together public sector, private sector, and civil society to remove deforestation from palm oil, beef, soy, and paper and pulp Mission TFA 2020 is a global public-private partnership platform which seeks to reduce tropical deforestation. Our mission is to help producers, traders, and buyers of key agriculture and forest commodities - such as palm oil, soy, beef and pulp and paper - achieve their commitments to deforestation-free supply chains, and for governments of tropical forest countries to realize better growth through sustainable rural development. Supporters TFA 2020 Secretariat is hosted at the World Economic Forum offices in Geneva, with financial support of the governments of the Norway, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

Africa Palm Oil Initiative Marrakesh Declaration Seven West and Central African Countries 250 Million Ha of Tropical Forest On 16 November 2016 seven African countries pledged to protect their forests by shifting to sustainable palm oil production Governments of the Central Africa Republic, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Liberia, the Republic of Congo and Sierra Leone signed the joint declaration at the COP22 climate change talks in Marrakesh The countries represent over 250 million hectares of tropical forest – 13% of the world’s total Marrakesh Declaration supported by producer, trade, consumer companies, donor governments & civil society

TFA2020 Partners Initiative: andgreen.fund Launched in Davos 2017 by Norway’s PM Erna Solberg $400 million risk mitigation facility Accelerate sustainable commodity production Protect 5 million hectares by 2020 On 19 January 2017 The Government of Norway set up a new fund to kick start investments in deforestation-free agriculture countries that are working to reduce their forests and peat degradation. It will work in partnership with Global Environment Facility, UN Environment Programme, the Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH) and major food companies Aims to protect over 5 million hectares of forests and peatlands by 2020. Launched with a commitment of up to $100 million from Norwegian government, based on a capitalization goal of $400 million by 2020 http://www.andgreen.fund/
