Writing Lesson: Claim Statements 10 mins. Now, look at the claim statement that you wrote last night. Revise to improve and then highlight it. This will be collected in a few minutes. Next, find evidence of the three Dystopian Controls (Bureaucratic, Corporate, Technological, or Philosophical) being used in Fahrenheit 451. Record your findings on paper. Determine the primary control being used. Construct themes based on the three types of control that you identified. Remember, a theme is a message that the author is sending the reader about a universal topic.
