Chinese Religions

Taoism Taoism is the focus on “The Way.” The Way is a balance between good and evil, light and dark. They believe life never really ends, but continues on. Many Taoists believe in reincarnation.

Confucianism Started by Confucius, this philosophy teaches responsibility and moral behavior. There are many rules. It was used to create order in society. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Confucianism teaches that there COULD BE an afterlife…

Buddhism Started by Siddhartha Gautama. There were 4 Noble Truths: Life sucks. It sucks because we want things. Stop wanting. Follow the Eightfold Path to stop wanting. The Eightfold Path: flee evil, seek truth in everything, don’t do anything you wouldn’t want done to you.

Neo-Confucianism This is a combination of Buddhism and Confucianism. It is nearly completely atheist. No god No afterlife It’s all about self-examination.
