Objective: Students will be able to list and briefly describe the five themes of geography. Standard 1: Students will analyze the basics of geography.

5 Themes of Geography 1. Location – “Where is it?” 2. Place – “What is it like?” 3. Region – “How are places similar or different?” 4. Human-Environment Interaction: “How do people relate to the physical world?” 5. Movement – “How do people, goods, and ideas move from one location to another?”

With a partner, complete the following assignment. If you could go anywhere in the world for free, where would you go? List two different countries that you would visit and answer the following questions for each location: Where is it exactly or relative to another location? What is it like? Briefly describe landscape and/or culture. Which region of the world is it in? How do humans interact with the environment?
