10-4 Acceleration Notes
Acceleration describes how velocity changes over time.
Ex. 1: Speeding up When you push the accelerator, the speed of the car gets faster and faster. This is positive acceleration.
Ex. 2: Slowing Down By pushing the brake, the speed of the car gets slower and slower. This is sometimes called deceleration.
Equation: Acceleration = Change in Velocity Change in Time
Free fall Does everything fall at the same rate?
Free fall is constant acceleration due to earth’s gravitational pull. Objects will accelerate to the earth gaining a speed of 10 m/s every second.
