Bats! By Cheyenne Rayborn

introduction Imagine walking into a cave at night, you hear the flapping of many small wings. You wonder what the noise is. It’s a bat! Bats are very interesting creatures, from there diet to appearance, they’re pretty awesome!

Lifespan Most bats live to almost fifteen to twenty five years old. They also been around longer than humans have been. About 50,000,000 years!

something To snack on! Bats eat many different things. Like insects, ripe fruit, nectar, small fish, frogs, and birds, mice, and also other types of bats. Since they eat plants and meat, they are omnivores. Plant Foods Animal Foods Banana Frogs Nectar Fish Apple Other Bats

A place to live Bats live almost anywhere! They can live in caves, trees, under roofs in the summer time, tropical forest, deserts, wood lands, fields, large cities, attics, and barns. They also migrate in the winter!

What do they look like? These little creatures appearance is very interesting, too! The main features of the bat are wings, ears, nose, beady eyes, small feet with claws, tail, and bushy fur. They also have four fingers and thumbs. That is the color of there fur can be white, red, brown, black, or gray.

predators? Oh no! They have almost the same predators as most land animals, even if they have wings! Some of the bat’s predators are birds like hawks, falcons, and owls. In addition, snakes, humans, and many diseases are predators as well.

Other Interesting Facts! There are many other facts about bats! Did you know they are the only mammals that can fly? Only 70% of bats eat insects, that connects to little brown bats can eat up to 600 insects per hour! Also the scientific name for their winds are “hand wings.” To add on only three kinds of bats eat blood. In fact, 45 types of bats live in the USA!

Conclusion! To conclude, bats are amazing animals, and the next time you see one in a dark cave, remember what you learned about them! I hope you are now interested in these awesome animals!
