9th & Colorado Redevelopment Impacts Denver Public Works - Traffic Safety recommendations Community feedback Survey Results Conducted by: Colorado Blvd. Healthcare Districts Subcommittee for Traffic, Pedestrian, and Bicycle Safety Subcommittee

Background The CBHD Subcommittee on Traffic, Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety was formed to work with Denver Dept. of Public Works to predict, mitigate and monitor issues in the blocks close to the 9th and Colorado Blvd. redevelopment Areas of concern were prioritized with emphasis on safe school access Denver Public Works recommended near-term solutions The Subcommittee conducted a survey to collect Hilltop neighborhood feedback: The Survey was advertised via the Cranmer Park Hilltop Civic Association’s subscribed email list and Hilltop Nextdoor. The Survey was conducted 10/27/17-11/23/17

Summary Findings 187 Survey Participants All 4 Hilltop Recommendations were supported by a majority of survey respondents - 6th & Clermont: 83% Somewhat or Strongly Support (Slide 4) - 3rd & Clermont: 83% Somewhat or Strongly Support (Slide 5) - 6th & Ash: 72% Somewhat or Strongly Support (Slide 6) - 7th & Ash: 68% Somewhat or Strongly Support (Slide 7) Most consistent qualitative feedback themes: (8) 6th Ave Pkwy – Too much speeding / more enforcement (7) Put in 4-way Stop at 7th & Ash (6) Speed Bumps on cut through streets and near schools (5) Push button activated signaled cross-walk 6th & Clermont (4) 6th Ave Pkwy – Prohibit northbound turns during rush hour (4) Colorado at 6th, 7th and 8th Improve Ped/Bike crossings (#) Number of similar comments

Indicate your level of support for new striping to narrow the vehicular traffic pattern, improve crosswalk alignment and visibility for greater pedestrian safety at the intersection of 6th Ave. Parkway and Clermont St.  (Hill Student crossing). 6th & Clermont Comments (5) Add a push button activated signaled cross-walk Moving the Crosswalk to the west side of the intersection could be dangerous as drivers look for on coming traffic to the east – may not see PEDs waiting to cross to the west. Traffic often does not stop, and when it does only one lane stops. The purpose is to 1) reduce cut through traffic on Albion (by Steck Elementary) from North-bound Colorado Blvd overflow traffic; 2) improve pedestrian safety across 6th at Ash St; and 3) reduce cut through traffic on Ash St to the new development.
