“As parent volunteers, we strive to bring together parents, students, teachers, school staff, and all community members to be involved at our school” The PTA works to: fund curriculum enhancement opportunities for all students assist teachers and staff build a strong community Foster a welcoming and healthy school environment “We strive to provide our children the very best academic, social, physical, and emotional tools to encourage success and we do our best to coordinate as many programs as we are able to generate funds for” PTA mission statement OUR GOAL FOR THE 2018-2019 YEAR IS TO GET THE COMMUNITY INVOLVED AT THE SCHOOL

We have 42 families signed from the open house and first days of school! This is awesome. We want to keep the membership number growing – our goal is 200 families! If anyone needs a scholarship – please join! Please write on your form scholarship. This is available to anyone who have a hardship. Not just those who qualify for free and reduced lunch. We want everyone to feel welcome in the PTA. Membership

The board is elected July 1-July 1 Our board is mostly newcomers We are working to learn how to operate efficiently and effectively If you have suggestions, please feel free to let us know If you are interested in the board for next year, please let us know ASAP so you can learn with us Board members have come up with events that we would like to hold BUT board members do not run the events – VOLUNTEERS run the events. The board helps you to plan and run a successful event If you have ideas that we have not presented, please let us know! We work in our PTA office, please stop by! We would love to have visitors! Events coming up please subscribe to our newsletter Health Screening at the school Friday Sept 14th, 2008 8am-noon (during school) We need volunteers to come help Ms. Dechatre coordinate the hearing screening. A few volunteers would write the results, keep order in the class lines and work as runners (go to the teacher’s classes to let them know if the time to screen their students). How to run an event Events are run by volunteers If there are not enough volunteers for an event, it will be cancelled You can do it!! Don’t feel overwhelmed!! The board will do everything necessary to help you run a successful event Example of how to run a small event: Family Game Night Choose an evening Contact a company such as MOX boarding house Ask for donations of games to play or budget for games to be purchased Coordinate with board to provide a location for event (school cafeteria) Work with volunteer chair to get volunteers to set up and clean up Advertise for event to get participants Example on how to run a big event: SPRING FLING Spring Fling Committee: 1 chairperson, 7-10 other committee members The chairperson will choose meeting times for committee. They will also attend 1- 2 board meetings to report to board on progress and any assistance needed Work with the committee to decide what food will be served, what activity tables will be offered (henna, face paint, etc) Work with the volunteer chair to arrange specific jobs and time slots for extra volunteers. Also help art teacher arrange for extra volunteers to hang artwork Work with the PTA president and treasurer to estimate budget for event How to run an event
