Crusades During the Christian Crusades thousands of people were killed across Europe and the Middle East in the name of Christianity.

Exploration In the 16th century Spain invade South America (Christopher Columbus) and forced the indigenous people to convert to Christianity. The Spanish also took all of the gold and precious stones.

Slavery Slave plantations in the Caribbean and deep south of America were owned by wealthy white Christians. Slavery was abolished in 1895 in America.

Apartheid In 1984 Rev Daniel Francois Malan introduced the apartheid to South Africa. Under the new laws people were separated by skin colour: Black, White or Coloured. This was supported by the Dutch Reform Church.

Robben Island Prison Cell Nelson Mandela He was imprisoned for 25 years for speaking out and taking action against the apartheid. When he was released in 1990 he worked towards ending the apartheid. Robben Island Prison Cell

Desmond Tutu Worked in Soweto as the archbishop. He campaigned against racism of any kind. When Nelson Mandela was released they worked together against the apartheid. Soweto township
