TOPIC=AFRO-BEATS The new sounds of West Africa Afro-beats are now global throughout the world especially in the entertainment industry. Afro-beat, which was created by Fela Kuti, one of Africas biggest music stars who used afro-beat as a way to oppose Nigerias military government in the late 1960s was a man of many talents. There were many afro-beat artists such Randy Weston, who was a pianist that record the afro-beat mix name zep tepi also knew as first time in English. Other artist today continues to play and evolve the sounds of afro-beats, artists sure as Chllngr and Tania Leon.Afro beats sounds today are used to relieve stress and help people of Africa loosen up to in a way of feeling that there is more to life than just pain and hard work. The reason why I choose this topic is because it is related to my career in the entertainment music field. Afro beats sounds has changed in many ways today. It has derived from the old traditional styles and began to take a new path in the music world. People began to use different styles sure as electronic sounds and even added hip-hop and R&B sounds into the mix. Today people used non-traditional instruments sure as the guitar, banjo, and drums that bring a more dancing feeling to music; afro beat was a fusion of traditional and contemporary sounds that had a more political influence. The inclusion of Afro beats in most music genres such as Hip-Hop, R&B, and Jazz, have a political, musical and spirituals influence.it also drive many people to at peace with themselves, become aspire to learn more about Africa and its beautiful traditions and culture. The are many difference between afro-beats and afro-beat and that is what I am going to compare along with the political, musical and spiritual influence behind them.
