Health Kiosk System Configuration What is the Health Kiosk? Motivation http://healthkiosk.dcc.fc.up.pt/ Motivation The lack of health resources in rural areas calls for other means to obtain information on health parameters. Allied with advances in technology, and a reduction in the price of medical devices, it is now possible to assemble a system, that can easily deliver this type of information at a low cost, not only to these areas but other possible application cases. What is the Health Kiosk? Integrated Devices Blood Pressure Monitor, Oximeter, Weighing Scale The Health Kiosk is a multi-purpose self-assessment system that aims at providing information on health parameters to locations that lack access to it. Due to its modularity and easiness of use, it can be applied in different scenarios, health care centres, rural areas, public locations, elderly communities, among others. User Identification can be made using the citizenship card or through a QR Code previously provided to the user. This facilitates the insertion of parameters such as age, gender, and height. The user can also make an anonymous usage of the health kiosk. System Configuration Printed Page that is delivered to the users upon using the health kiosk containing all collected information alongside default values for each parameter. Experiments This system was tested at the Faculty of Science in the University of Porto, on different days and locations. We assessed students, teachers, and the faculty staff. We tested the system to better understand if users could interact with it from start to finish without help. It was also present at the Mostra UP where we had the opportunity of testing the system with high school students and their parents. Results The results obtained from these experiments were rather positive. More than 160 people interacted with the system. Making it possible to understand that the system is usable, with some minor changes needed regarding provided instructions. Some additional features will be added in the system to avoid incorrect use such as skipping a screen by mistake. Acknowledgements Project UID/EEA/50008/2013 supported the presentation of this poster.
