WA Inspections Different types of inspections done by ASPEC Perth office: RMP inspections: 6 yearly 2 yearly 6 monthly 25 years recertification crane inspections New machine commissioning inspections Site inspections for design modifications WA Inspections
Traditional Inspection Method Problems with traditional inspection method: Carry drawings and previous inspection reports to site Deal with many photos: Take framing and detailed photos of each defect Photos not in order Record photo numbers and inspection results on drawings Inconsistent report template Time consuming More likely go over budget WA Inspections
Digital Inspection Method Digital inspection method utilises an iPad and an app called iAuditor: Paperless A system in place to provide consistency and reduce subjectiveness Focus on high risk areas Reporting is more efficient Turn around report quicker Less likely go over budget Preliminary report issued on site WA Inspections
iAuditor Data store on ‘Clouds’ Sync different devices WA Inspections

Templates Create own template Simple drag and drop interface of some basic fields: Question fields, multiple choice fields, Check box fields, drawing (a blank field with a pen tool for drawing diagram, photo (including image annotation), date/time, slider (allows numeric response on a sliding scale, i.e. for scoring), GPS location digital signatures Advance fields Build conditional logic into the form Exporting template CSV for advance editing WA Inspections

Further Development – Automate Reporting iAuditor findings exported as multiple formats (PDF, Word, CSV) PDF or Word files can be a standalone report Can be issued on site as preliminary Can be an appendix with brief cover report CSV files can be used to populate client spreadsheet templates Currently done manually Should develop a macro Track budget progress WA Inspections
Further Development – Optimise Time On Site Standardise planning method: Compiling site HSE documents, check for currency Upload desktop review findings (e.g. extract key machine book information) Adjust iAuditor template to suit (e.g. create prompts for critical areas) WA Inspections
Further Development – Improve Quality Beneficial to have iPad on site Link with Excel Record repetitive observations (e.g. wheel wear measurements) Could run calculations on the spot (e.g. compare weighing results with design) Utilise other digital tools Snake cam instead of entering confined space Drones instead of working at heights Incorporate digital data (e.g. GPS location, inclinometer, accelerometer) WA Inspections
