What does it do for an organization? 1. Provides for programs outside of the normal operating budget A chapel A counseling lab Etc. 2. A diversified financial base Not reliant upon only tuition 3. Acts as a safe guard for the organization 4. Promotes and markets the organization Other Benefits??

Who raises funds in an organization? EVERYONE!!! Everyone should know the needs of the college and be able to explain them to potential donors The role of the Development Director Funds for colleges and seminaries Board Members Alumni Foundations Corporate Partners

Ways to raise funds 1. Mail, Email, etc. Traditional way of disseminating information 2. Endowments, Planned Giving, and other major gifts 3. Grant-Writing 4. Marketing 5. Sponsorships / Corporate partners

How can you help? We Have no director of development, which raises the burden on us 1. Be on the look out for potential opportunities (Foundations, partners, people) Story of the library 2. You have a great idea for college improvement, write a mail appeal or a grant proposal 3. Give yourselves Having a staff and faculty that gives is a great selling point

How to tell our story 1. What separates our organization from the competition? Inter-denominational 2. What is our niche that other organizations cannot fill? Affordable education Debt Free 3. What is the donor’s gift return on investment to your organization? 90% donations, 10% Programs 4. Tell our story
