Presentation transcript:

Robert Mock Robert Mock worked in the Healthcare Industry for 30 years, 27 of those years were with GlaxoSmithKline. While he was working in the Vaccine Division he became keenly aware of the HPV Virus. In June of 2012, he was diagnosed with late stage Throat Cancer due to the HPV Virus and today he is very happy and proud to say that he is a survivor. His two year battle made him realize just how precious life, family and friends are to me. His life has been so negatively impacted by oropharyngeal cancer, that he now feels compelled to share his experience and elevate the awareness of this life threatening virus and how we can prevent it. Over the past year he has spoken to more than 100 parents about HPV and it has been very obvious to him that most have very little knowledge or understanding of the impact this virus can have on themselves and their children. Therefore, his personal experience and healthcare industry background have influenced him to utilize his skill set to educate both parents and adolescents about HPV.

Robert Mock What was your First signs that something wasn't right and you became concerned? What type of medical treatments did you receive? Do you have long term effects from these treatments? Did these treatments impact your family life?  What has been the emotional and social toll that this cancer has had on you, your family, & friends? How have you been involved in HPV vaccine advocacy work? Are there any other related messages that you would like to share with pediatricians and their healthcare teams HPV cancer prevention and HPV vaccination?
