Aesthetics a branch of philosophy dealing with the nature of art, beauty, and taste, with the creation and appreciation of beauty.
Three Major Functions of Art Personal Cultural/Social Practical/Physical
1. personal Art for aesthetics, beauty, or personal reasons such as to communicate something to the viewer, self expression, entertainment, or therapy.
It is not usually one person’s point of view or experience. 2. cultural or social Art that addresses aspects of life, cultural beliefs, political beliefs, social condition or status, etc. It is not usually one person’s point of view or experience.
3. practical or physical art art that serves a utilitarian (useful) purpose
2D Art paintings, drawings, prints, and photographs, etc. (Typically anything on a flat surface)
