AP Exams Each AP Exam is given an overall grade of 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5, (5 is the top score). Colleges and universities set their own score for credit or advanced placement in each course, however, a score of 3, 4, or 5 typically indicates a student who is qualified to receive college credit and/or advanced placement.
