TCAP Review Bell Work

Monday, March 20th Topic: The Scientific Method Today’s Task: Use this information to write a paragraph supporting or refuting the claims of the Airlift Shoe advertisement. How truthful is the advertisement based on the experiment? Be sure to include data! A competitor of the Airlifts Shoe wanted to dispute their advertised claims. The data presented below is from an experiment they conducted. The jump height of 5 people was measured with a meter stick. The people were then asked to put on Airlifts Shoes, and their jump height was re-measured. The table below describes the people used in the experiment and the bar graph shows their jump heights in cm. NAME GENDER Jan Female Markus Male Sammy Henry Rick

Tuesday, March 21st Topic: The Design Process Today’s Task #1: In a short paragraph, explain what biofuel is. Be sure to identify it as an assistive or adaptive bioengineered product. In your paragraph, list a couple of intended benefits and unintended consequences of biofuel. Today’s Task #2: Sketch a picture of an assistive bioengineered technology.

Wednesday, March 22nd Topic: Measurements Today’s Task: Match each of the lab tools with the correct description. Triple-Beam Balance Graduated Cylinder Spring Scale Thermometer Hot Plate Tongs Meter Stick Beaker Dropper Tweezers Measures temperature Used to heat something up Measures mass Used to hold hot things Measures weight Measures volume Measures larger amounts of liquid Used to transfer very small amounts of liquid Used to pick up very small items Measures length

Thursday, March 23rd Topic: Measurements Today’s Task: Calculate the density for each of the liquids in the chart below. Then, use the color key to accurately color the layers of the density column. Liquid Mass Volume Density Color 1 12 3 Yellow 2 18 9   Red 10 Blue 4 Green

Friday, March 24th Topic: Measurements Today’s Task: The rock has a volume of 4g/mL. Draw a labeled graduated cylinder (with the rock inside) that accurately shows the water the rock displaced.
