PLTS: MUST be able to Identify the different parts of the course SHOULD be able to Explain how it is assessed COULD be able to Explain the benefits of studying Travel and Tourism

Learning objective To explain what BTEC Travel and Tourism Is PLTS: The Travel and Tourism Course is a BTEC and is the equivalent of one GCSE. It is a vocational qualification recognised by employers and colleges/ sixth forms.

Learning objective To explain what BTEC Travel and Tourism Is PLTS: How is it graded? It is graded at four levels:- Pass= Grade C Merit= Grade B Distinction= A Distinction*- A* This means, the lowest mark you can gain for the completion of this course is the equivalent of grade C.

Learning objective To explain what BTEC Travel and Tourism Is PLTS: How is it assessed? This course is 75% coursework and 25% external exam. This is especially good for those who find exams stressful! You will be expected to work independently and in groups to research topics, and use IT skills to present and produce portfolios of work. Work will need to be produced both at home and at school. You will need to be organised and good at researching topics of work.

Unit One- External Assessment Understanding Travel and Tourism Sectors For example The reasons people travel- eg leisure, business, visiting friends and family, visiting attractions. Sustainable tourism Different travel organisations, such as accommodation, travel companies, attractions, travel agents and tour operators. How the Travel and Tourism Industries help the UK economy.

Learning objective To explain what BTEC Travel and Tourism Is PLTS: Unit 4- Factors Affecting Worldwide Travel- Portfolio Work In this unit you will: A investigate how climate and worldwide time can affect the appeal of worldwide destinations ( seasons, jet lag) B understand influential factors on worldwide travel and tourism destinations ( major incidents, health epidemics ,terrorism, wars)

Learning objective To explain what BTEC Travel and Tourism Is PLTS: What happens after doing a BTEC? You could chose to study a BTEC at level three ( equivalent to A Level) in Travel and Tourism. Or… Apply to do an apprenticeship in a Travel and Tourism Organisation. Travel and Tourism are two of the UK’s greatest employers!
