Phasing out the use of lead shot in wetlands (1) 15 October 2009 Phasing out the use of lead shot in wetlands (1) African-Eurasian Waterbirds Agreement (AEWA – 1999): all MS (except AT, MT and PL) and the EU contracting parties Resolution 1.14 at the 1st MOP: “Parties shall endeavour to phase out the use of lead shot in wetlands by the year 2000” Agreement between BirdLife and Face (October 2004): “Both organisations ask for the phasing out of the use of lead shot for hunting in wetlands…by the year 2009 at the latest” Bergen-op-Zoom (25th anniversary of the Birds Directive - November 2004): MS and the EC committed to “aim to phase out the use of lead shot in wetlands as soon as possible and ultimately by 2009 Resolution 4.1 at the 4th MOP (September 2008): “The Parties are urged to publish self-imposed timetables for completing the phase out…”
