Virginia Company of London In the early 1600’s, the Va. Company of London formed a joint- stock company. What is that?!?!?! J-S Company: a business formed by a group of people who jointly share in a company’s risks, profits, and losses.
The Charters To establish a colony the members of the Virginia Company obtained royal charters form King James I of England. These charters outlined the colony’s formation and government.
What did the Charter say?! It established the principle of government by the consent of the governed. It also established the right of the people to enjoy the fruits of their labor.
